Abstract

The article deals with the environmental aspects of purification of industrial and household wastewater and utilization of the silty sediments. The comparison of aerobic and anaerobic wastewater treatment methods has been done. Characteristic of the main groups of microorganisms used in the biological purification and features of their metabolism are described. It has been found that the amount of released biogas can fully meet the treatment facilities’ own needs. An additional step of neutralization of large-tonnage silty sediments by the anaerobic method has been developed.
