INFLUENCE OF SUBSTRATE CONCENTRATION ON THE FORMATION OF HYDROGEN DURING FERMENTATION

Abstract

In this article we show the effect of cellulosic raw material concentration on the production of hydrogen by association of microorganisms in the fermentation process. Increasing the concentration of waste corn above 60 g/dm3, results in a decrease of рН lower than 6 and reduces the yield of hydrogen. At pH 5.5 the yield of hydrogen decreases 3 times compared to its synthesis at pH 7. The hydrogen concentration in the gas phase reaches 53% at a concentration of corn 30 g/dm3. Separation of the fermentative process for two steps (destruction of raw material and the production of hydrogen) can increase the yield of hydrogen by 3-4 times.
