MICROBIOLOGY OF WASTEWATER
Abstract
Biological treatment process is carried out on microbial communities through which the flow of substrate and biomass. In these systems the continuous selection of various types of microorganisms. Most of these organisms can multiply directly to the treatment plant. All organisms living in the water treatment plant, get it from any external source: with waste water from the air and soil. Living organisms in sewage treatment plants can be divided into the following groups: bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoa, multicellular. In the activated sludge contains all basic physiological groups of microorganisms to decompose carbon compounds, nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur and other elements. Biocenotic feature activated sludge is its lack of care of primary producers (except chemoautotrophic bacteria), as organic matter enters the wastewater in finished form. Development of a particular organism determine environmental conditions. Therefore, by the presence of specific organisms present in large quantities, can be judged on the conditions that caused their development.
