O.M. Salamov has been engaged in the field of solar and wind energy more than 40 years. He has developed numerous power plants of different purposes supplied by solar and wind energy sources. At the end of the 70s for the first time in the USSR under his leadership it was developed solar and wind power electrolysis installations for obtaining high-purity hydrogen and oxygen from water under pressure. It has been also developed various options of the controllers of gas pressure difference to avoid the possibility of explosion when using high-precision small-sized electrocontact sensors of pressure difference of hydrogen and oxygen, as well as a number of devices for automatically changing the options of matching the electrolyzer with current sources within the changes in the intensity of solar radiation and wind speed. For all these devices it has been obtained copyright certificates marked “Confidential”. One of the plants has been used for flame machining of jewelry. Under leadership of O.M.Salamov it has been developed also photoelectric and wind-electric anti-corrosion systems for cathodic protection of the main oil and gas pipelines, as well as a number of underground metal structures against corrosion. Both anti-corrosion systems have been used for protecting the main Sumgayit-Garadagh gas pipeline with a diameter of63 cm, in the regions of Sumgayit and Gurd Gapisi, respectively. O.M.Salamov is the author of the first mathematical model of solar electrolysis unit, designed to obtain high-purity hydrogen and oxygen from water under pressure, as well as mathematical model for determining energy parameters of parabolic concentrator with a flat solar collector. A significant contribution of O.M. Salamov is in the field of single and combined use of solar and wind energy for hot water and heat supply. In this area he created an independent scientific direction and conducted a number of valuable theoretical and practical works, of which results are published in different peer-reviewed scientific journals, spread in many scientific libraries of RF and obtained numerous patents ofAzerbaijanand EAPO. O.M. Salamov is also the author of several other power plants, which include tracking systems for automatic guidance of concentrating mirrors in the sun, wind turbine for incubation of eggs, wind energy system for heating houses of hothouse type, flat solar collectors with thermal trap, wind-electric unit with vertical rotation axis, pneumatic wind-pump installation, high-temperature units for obtaining hydrogen-containing combustible gas mixtures from different types of biomass using parabolic concentrations, as well as thermo-chemical reactors, optimizing and dosing systems for these plants, solar station for heating reactant-heat carriers, mini hydroelectric plant without dams for generating electric energy from lowland rivers, wind power station of HAES and so on. From the above-mentioned units based on the system for heating houses of hothouse type it has been established a hothouse with simultaneous power supply by two wind units of AVEU-6 type for cultivation of flowers, tomatoes and cucumbers, which full-scale tests were conducted under climatic conditions of Baku for two years and gave good results.
O.M. Salamov has been actively teaching at AzerbaijanTechnicalUniversitysince 2011. During this time he delivered lectures, as well as conducted seminars and laboratory works on the following subjects: “Satellite communication system”, “Mobile radio communication system”, “REA designing”, “Acoustic field and electro-acoustic converting device”, “Fundamentals of metrology”, “Radio Control”, etc. He is the author of several manuals on laboratory works.
O.M. Salamov is the honorary professor-doctor of theInternationalEcoenergyAcademyon the development of alternative energy.
Oktay Mustafa Salamov is the author and co-author of more than 180 scientific works, including more than 130 articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals (which are included in the list of HAC) and has 50 inventions, for which obtained patents of theRussian Federation, EAPO andAzerbaijanRepublic.
